Is the Radeon r7 240 compatible with my motherboard?

I have a gigabyte 78lmt-s2 motherboard with amd 760g chipset.
Here's what I have nowFX-6300 (3.50 GHz)
4 GB DDR3 500 GB HDD
Windows 8.1 64-bit
AMD Radeon R5 230 1GB
500w power supply
Is it a good idea to upgrade to r7 240 gpu?
Or can I even be able to make this change?

So the answer is no..

Sure..... Get the EVGA GeForce GT 730, you will get a slightly better performance.
I'm reading that a motherboard with a pcie slot will fit into a gpu with pcie 3.0

PCIe 2.0 is cross-compatible with PCIe 3.0

if the card physically fits, and you have the power, it will work 99.9976286357865213% of the time. the other 0.0023485724% is due to Dell or HP being idiots and blocking stuff.
