I was given an old Raspberry Pi A+ (Original, not 3) by a friend. I was wondering, can you still make cool projects with it? Can you run the latest (or at least a semi-modern) version of raspbian? Or is it just too old nowadays? I wanted to start making small real-world projects that involve lights and buttons from GPIO, and eventually make some more advanced projects, like maybe a camera, speaker and microphone I could control remotely through the local network. Can the Raspberry Pi Model A+ handle these? Thanks for any replies.

I have two of the original A+'s running as weather clocks with Sense Hats attached. Performance is probably comparable to a Pi Zero. I like having the full size HDMI and USB versus having to plug adapters into a Pi Zero.
I also have 4 3A+'s running headless, motion eye camera setups.
