Is the temperature normal? i7-4790k

Hi all,

I just upgraded to i7-4790k recently, bought an used unit from ebay, I even applied thermal paste (IC diamond 24k carat) on it.

I turned on HWmonitor and went to play CSGO for 10 minutes, when I check the temperatures on HWmonitor, I can see that the max temp for my processor went to 100 degree celcius, is this normal?

My spec:
Mobo : MSI Z97 Gaming 5
Proc: i7-4790k (no OC)
GPU: MSI GTX1070ti Duke

Ah sorry I missed that out, I'm using stock cooler..

No that is way too hot for CSGO, you shouldn't even really be getting that with Prime95 w/AVX on. That is nearing the throttling threshold of 105C.

You need to look at how you mounted your heatsink. What do you have for a heatsink? Stock? Aftermarket?

A stock heatsink ..

the stock cooler may be breaking down or your case has too many dust and little airflow.
I will get a cooler like Cryorig H7/H5 and clean dust in the case.

I started my post before you posted the answer to the heatsink question. If you have a stock heatsink, have a look at the pushpins. I'm betting you have one or more of them that isn't latched properly.

I reattached the heatsink and made sure the pushpins are locked properly, now gonna run some test again

After reattached the heatsink, the result's still same with the screenshot above... no changes .................

Yes, invest in a decent cooler man. Something from noctua or the like. The intel stock heatsink is barely adequate for most cpus.

I do not trust HWMonitor temps sometimes, Try using CoreTemp for monitoring temps, and let us know if there is any difference in temps.
