I have an Alienware 17 r5 i9-8950hk gtx 1080 laptop.
I replaced my motherboard on Feb 2022 because my Nvidia card died. The 970 evo plus was in the horizontal nvme ssd slot and it failed on Jan 2023 and the nvme ssd suddenly became unallocated space and it couldn't be formatted so I bought a 980 pro and it also was put in the horizontal nvme ssd slot. The 980 pro suddenly became unallocated space on Oct 2023, it was formatted and I continued to use it, the 980 pro again suddenly became unallocated space on Aug 2024 and I restored my data to it and I continued to use it.
I sent my laptop to the Dell service center in my city. They checked my motherboard and they found 4 burnt mofset chips. Please see these pictures. Those burnt mofset chips are near the horizontal nvme ssd slot. It looks like that motherboard has a defect and there is a power regulation problem in those 4 mofset chips and they burnt and became worse and worse as time passed and that messed up the 970 evo plus and the 980 pro which was nearby.
The 980 pro is now in the vertical nvme ssd slot. The chips near the vertical nvme ssd slot are fine and they are not affected.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hZzxD6VR46a7C0qg3C9Va3_U9D12f8Lg/ is the schematic diagram for the motherboard of my laptop. There are 3 pdf files and 2 brd files. The brd files can be opened with BoardView software. You have to install the program and open the brd files.
Can someone who understands schematic diagrams please examine them and find out if only the horizontal nvme ssd slot uses those 4 burnt mofset chips and the vertical nvme ssd slot doesn't use them and it can continue to function normally if those 4 mofset chips are burnt or both the horizontal nvme ssd slot and vertical nvme ssd slot use those 4 burnt mofset chips so the 980 pro will also misbehave if it's in the vertical nvme ssd slot?
