Is there a point in setting a BIOS admin password(for accessing BIOS settings) or a BIOS system password (for accessing the OS) when they both can be reset ?
Depends on your threat level. Is there a point in setting a BIOS admin password(for accessing BIOS settings) or a BIOS system password (for accessing the OS) when they both can be reset ?
Since neither one can be reset by simply clearing BIOS they are quite secure. The most common use is in a business environment where the admins do not want users changing settings at random or booting machines without the proper credentials should they fall into the wrong hands. Normally used in conjunction with drive encryption to create a very secure system. Is there a point in setting a BIOS admin password(for accessing BIOS settings) or a BIOS system password (for accessing the OS) when they both can be reset ?
