Is there a safety risk going from a 0.3a fan to a 0.1a fan?

Hi all, I have an electronic device (LED light for reef aquariums) which had it's fan go.

I ordered the replacement fan, but the replacement reads 0.1a whereas the fan I removed reads 0.3a. I don't run these super hot; they usually sit around 50% of their overall power, which also means the fans run less in general. They have auto shut off due to heat, but I don't want to rely on that.

Do you think running the new fan safe? 1/3rd the power draw feels huge.

If the fans have equal pinouts and voltage ratings, and the circuit doesn't tend go get very hot I'd expect it to run just fine. If the fans are regulated by temperature, you can expect the new fan to run more often to compensate.

I double checked and both are 5v. I am going to roll with it and see how it goes. Thanks!
