Question Is there a tool to remove the stupid plastic M.2 "hold down for a bit" lever from motherboards ?

Is there a quick way to remove the quick install M.2 fast install what ever it's called plastic thing? Good idea as long as you never change your drive or use a different cooler. Yet another engineer that tried to fix a problem that did not exist.

Don't blame the engineer.

Likely someone made note that plastic is cheaper than metal and decided that the "plastic idea" could be sold via some hype regarding "quick install" etc..

And the engineer got stuck with trying to make it work.....

Good recommendation as long as the existing "thingy" can be removed safely and the replacement screwed into place.

Standoffs must be removable because they have to be removable because there at least 3 places for them to be screwed in.

That is what I want to do, but I can't seem to get the Asus Q-Latch (I think it is called) out of the motherboard. Here come the vise-grips!

The plastic is mounted with more metal than two screws. But, I agree that it's a bean counter to blame.

Just me pennies, but to say that I don't see the plastic cam instead of screw as a bad thing.

You may be the "victim" of some other previous hack or some manufacturing/refurbished modification.

I would not risk pulling it all apart until more is known.
