So I am in the process of building a new rig using a Ryzen 5 5600x. But they are sold out everywhere. So I went out and bought a motherboard and ram online cause they were on special, while i wait for the cpu to go back in stock. I bought the phantom gaming 4 b550 mobo and 16 gigs of 3600mhx viper patriot ram. The problem is I don't know if the mobo needs a bios flash for the 5000 series CPUS and there is no way for me to check cause I don't have a spare CPU and all the computer stores are closed cause we are on complete lockdown. Is there a way for me to verify the BIOS without a CPU>?

Solution
sadly you need a cpu installed to get to the bios. i don't see anything about that mobo allowing for updating the bios without a cpu installed. some brands/boards have that ability but it does not look like this one has it.

you are going to need a cpu installed to check. the specs do say it supports the 5000 series so hopefully that means it has the right bios installed. the box also says 3rd gen ready. you should be ok based on those 2 observations. but of course you won't know for sure until you build it and power it on. look at the box, does it also say 3rd gen ready? if so, then you should be ok and can sleep well until you can get that cpu :)

Solution
I would get the part number and then the individule serial number of the board.
Contact the Mfg. and ask if and when the bios was installed and then what version is it!
You may need the numbers off the Bios chip as well.
If they are an ISO company they should know.
