I just got my pc together and I thought I would be able to just add a wifi card to my motherboard but I can't figure out how to do it. Is it possible?

what kind of wifi card? a pcie card or usb card should be just a matter of plugging it in.

what specific motherboard do you have? and again what type of wifi card are you hoping to use? a link to a product or 2 would go a long way to helping you out :)

Motherboard: rog Strix z390-h gaming

Wifi Card: Depends on what we have, cause we have a few spares laying around. Right now we found the intel dual-band wireless ac 3165

I should be able to plug it into the PCIE1_1 slot right?

Link is broken for the wifi card, but any PCIe X1 wifi card will work in one of the PCIe X1 slots on your motherboard.

Alternatively you could go with a USB WIFI dongle.
I currently have a wifi dongle, not great but gets the job done. But yea, just wanted to confirm i can plug it into that slot without having my PC die.

that is not a pcie card like we are thinking. that is a mini pcie version usually used in laptops. many mobo's have such a slot (usually ones that have built in wifi) but yours does not.

you can go with a usb type or a true pcie model like this

this is just an example and not an endorsement of this specific model
