Currently the only way my i5-2500 goes up to 3.7 GHz is by disabling 3 cores in BIOS. Otherwise it will only go up to 3.4 GHz even in single threaded applications, because the workload is always distributed among all the cores so they all stay active.
Is there maybe some kind of software that forces the CPU to run at 3.7 GHZ turbo speed regardless of # active cores?
