Is there a way to turn my 770's fans off at low temperatures?

I have an EVGA GTX 770, and it's kind of loud even at the the lowest fan speed (1140 RPM, according to PrecisionX). I'd like the fans to shut off completely when the GPU temperature is low, but if I try to set the PrecisionX fan curve for my current GPU temperature below 35% for my current GPU temperature, it has no effect on fan speeds. (The fan speed increases when I raise it above 35%, so that's not where the problem is.) Is there a way to shut the fans off completely, without doing anything drastic like removing the cooler or cutting a power cord?

Solution

Even if you try and set it to zero RPM with speedfan, the BIOS on the graphics card will almost certainly prevent it from dropping below a certain failsafe speed (the same speed that Precision X will not let you drop below).
No, I'm afraid you cannot get them to switch off; there's a minimum speed for them. If you really want that functionality, return the EVGA model and get the ASUS Strix or one of the MSI cards that have the ability to stop the fans when the temperature is below a certain level.

Ah, it's a 770? Sorry, not sure how I missed that in the body of your post. Well that makes it even easier; the answer is no, you can't do that with any 770 that I know of.
