Is there another way to crawl?

I am stuck in a square room filled with water and when I try to crawl by
using the "ctrl W"-buttons it does not work. Now I wonder if there is
another way to crawl?

Unless you've changed the control keys, that is the way to crawl.
Does your viewpoint drop when you press ctrl?

If so, then you are crouching/crawling. Maybe the hole you are trying
to crawl through is too small - there must be another route.

If not, then check your control options and make sure the ctrl key is
bound to the crouch movement.
