Question Is there any easy way or free app for Windows that can monitor if my internet cuts off?

My computer is on 24/7 so that is not an issue, I have been having issues with my connection lately cutting off at least once every day usually around the same time in the middle of the night, they scheduled a tech to come by in a few days... but also gave me an automated message claiming they found the issue and repaired it and if I still want the tech to arrive.

Problem is, they are known for charging you if a tech arrives and finds no problem, but if I cancel it could be a while until the next available time for a tech to arrive.

So I wanted to know for the times when I am not home or asleep or whatever if there is any kind of logs I can check in Windows that will let me know if it lost internet connection, or any free app I can run that monitors this and will log/let me know if it cuts off and for when. I know I can just do something like run a ping command on infinite loop, but on top of having to leave a command window open I would either have to be constantly monitoring this window or make it write to a text file and keep searching this text file if any pings got lost for an extended period of time... also I don't want to be nonstop pinging a server 24/7 and make it look like I am trying to be malicious even if traffic from a single person would be a drop in an ocean for anything major like Google.

You can use powershell to give you a version of ping with timestamps and logging -- https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/154193-ping-with-timestamp-and-log

you could probably check your modem/router logs if they are enabled
it can show connection drops

They more or less aren't. It has three sets of logs, and all of them are useless. In all the time I have had this modem, the "system log" is the only one I have ever seen have anything ever written to it... and all it logs is that I logged into the modem. It's clear the ISP disabled the logs on this thing for whatever reason, the older models I had actually kept logs.
