Is there any way to plug a USB 3.0 HDD into a USB 3 Motherboard Header?

You can check this thread to see why I want to do this, but basically I opened an external HDD and it has no SATA, so I want to use the USB 3.0 Micro-B to USB 3.0 Type-A cable that came with the HDD to somehow connect it to my motherboard. Plugging it into a USB 3.0 Header should be possible with a 3.0 header to 3.0 Type-A Female adapter, right?

I may as well have left the Hard Drive in the enclosure if I was going to do that. I want it to be internal, and not only is the cable it comes with not long enough to reach the front panel, there's no place in my case to route cables from the inside to the outside.

Theoretically, but I know that sometimes things don't work out the way you expect them to, especially when it comes to using adapters, so I was just making sure.
