I mean without connecting the TV to the PC physically, I have tried using Steam link to display it on my phone, and then mirroring my phone to the TV, but that didn't work.

windows will mirror over bluetooth if your tv can accept the connection.

however, i'd not suggest it. you introduce a good bit of latency with a wireless connection. a big no no when used along side the term gaming. audio and your inputs will both be subject to the effects of the latency which for most people ruins the experience.

a direct hdmi cable would be the best way to use your tv as a monitor

Yes, however my PC is across the room from my TV, but I would like to do a bit of couch gaming once in a while, but it's not a big deal.

i have a 30 ft hdmi run to my tv for the same reason :)

think i paid about $15 for it on amazon

throw in a bluetooth controller so i don't have to stretch that cable across the room and i enjoy the large screen for some gaming fun as well as movies n such. i def understand your desire to do the same.

I just wish there was some low latency way to do it without a cable. I wouldn't mind using steam link on my phone if not for the tiny screen and the fact that I would need something to hold up the phone.

i've seen it done with the windows mirroring and it was crazy lag. a point and click game or a family board game night would be fine but anything with any action would never work.

i tried it with a racing game and it felt like i was drunk driving (or so i've heard it described anyway 😗)

there might be a way but i've not run across it myself.

I suppose my next question is, how is Steam link lower latency than windows mirroring for example? They are essentially doing the same thing, I mean they are both mirroring the screen, but how is steam link so much better than any other method of mirroring?
