[SOLVED] Is there anything similar to TriXX Boost for Nvidia GPUs to reduce rendering resolution of games?

I have a 4k monitor and a Nvidia Geforce Rtx 2060 super. Many games struggle to run at 4k at a decent framerate, and many games today still don't have an in-game internal scaler to reduce the rendering res, so I must set the monitor resolution at lower non-native res but the result is softened and blurred graphics quality in games.

I know that Amd cards have the possibility to use TriXX Boost, a specific software that enables to run games at higher fps by reducing the rendering resolution and upscaling the final output image to the monitor 4k native resolution. This way you don't have to lower the monitor resolution nor the game resolution, avoiding softened and blurred images.

I've done some researchs and wasn't able to find something similar for Nvidia cards. Do you know if there are any software which do the same for Nvidia cards, by reducing the game rendering resolution and upscaling the final output image to the monitor native res?

I have tried your method. It's interesting because I didn't know it before. Surprisingly, I only get 1 Scaling Resolution (the 0.85x one). However, result with games is still blurred and softened image. When pushing up with the sharpening slider, the image gets an unnatural and very artifical look. When going down, the blurring is just too much to be acceptable
See https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/ans...-image-sharpening-in-the-nvidia-control-panel towards the bottom if you're running into any of the limitations.

Also you may need to set the image scaling to GPU instead of Display in the "Adjust desktop size and position" -> "Perform scaling on" drop down.
From what it looks like, NVIDIA GPUs don't have a global way to render at a lower resolution and scale it back up. The closest I can think of is set a custom resolution, use GPU scaling for displaying lower resolutions to the native one, and enable the sharpening filter. However, this will only work if you're doing Fullscreen Exclusive mode.

EDIT: I think I found out that NVIDIA does have a global setting:

  1. Go to "Manage 3D Settings" in NVIDIA's control panel and click on the Image Sharpening dropdown:

  2. Make sure "GPU scaling" is checked, otherwise adjust the options to taste

  3. Verify in "Change Resolution" you have "Scaling resolutions" available

  4. Games should now have said resolutions available for selection

Note this may only work with Fullscreen Exclusive for some games still.
