Is there such thing as an Ethernet to DSL adapter?

In my new apartment, the internet connection is carried over an Ethernet cable, however my modem (an ASUS DSL-AC68U) has a dsl port. Is there an adapter available that converts an Ethernet port to a DSL port, or would I be better off buying a new modem?

What do you mean carried over an Ethernet port? If you live in a managed building and the internet is provided by the building then you can just plug the cable into any LAN port on your router and set it up as an access point. Turn off the firewall on your router if you do this as you may have issues with double NAT in the future.

highly unlikely unless your goal is to just use it as a AP to get wireless. If you need to use it as a router it likely won't work. Most dsl routers only do nat between the wan and lan. The DSL port is the only wan port in many routers....unless you happen to have one of the dual use ones with a wan port.

Amazing folks here seem to understand what you are talking about because I have not the faintest idea.

In one of my apartments the ISP wired a CAT5 from the DMARC to my unit and gave me a RJ45 jack, normally this would be a RJ11, so at a glance it "looks" like an ethernet port but the jack is not ethernet, it carries DSL signal, and I plug in my DSL modem here with a RJ11 patch cord. RJ11 plugs into a RJ45 jack fine.

Now if you live in a "communal" apartment, and you know this if the Internet service is included in the rent, then the management has control of the modem, and you cannot add your own.

I'm not sure what's hard to understand about the OP's question: they have a LAN cable to their apartment that supplies them a connection to the building/community internet service. They want to have wireless internet in their apartment, not LAN internet. They already own a DSL Wireless Router that has four (4) LAN ports and one (1) DSL port. They want to know if there is a way to hook the LAN cable into their DSL router so they can get wifi in their apartment and not have to be connected physically at all times to the LAN cable.

I just tested this myself at home, and managed to change my ADSL wireless router settings to allow one of the four LAN ports to function as a WAN port instead. It seems it is possible/likely that you can do this as well by accessing your modem/router's settings (usually by going to 192.168.1.1 in your address bar, then entering "admin" for both username and password, unless you've previously changed these to something else).

I looked up your ASUS router and it looks like yes it is probably possible. Try following the steps illustrated here: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1016292/
