I am upgrading my computer and I already have a stick of 8GB and an HDD. Is this good?

Short answer is yes! I am not sure about the motherboard as ASRock doesn't have the best reputation. Normally, I would say take the risk but all the rest of the hardware around it is top notch so you may want to swap it out for a better board.

No one will criticize the rest of the selection.

I would check and see if your current stick of 8GB ram is PC 1600 and attempt to get another stick to match it for dual channel support. This would be more beneficial then have one 8gb stick and two 4gb sticks.
