Is this a decent build? (New to building)

1. Hi everyone. I wanted to know whether this build is good enough to run newer games such as Battlefield 3 on higher settings. I don't really mind screen resolution size so I don't really mind if I play at smaller resolutions such as 1280x768. I'm also trying to keep my budget below $1300. Well, without further ado, here's my current build.

CPU: Intel CPU Core i5-2500k -LGA 1155

Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Pro3 Intel Mainboard

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard drive

Optical Drive: LG DVD burner

RAM: G.SKILL DDR3 8GB (2x4GB) PC-12800-1600 Ares

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 560 1 GB

Case: Cooler Master Elite 335U

PSU: Standard ATX PS2(420W)

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Full Retail Edition

Monitor: Samsung 22'' Monitor

Cheap Mouse and Keyboard

2. Also, this build is supposed to replace my old 6 year old computer which is connected to my home's DLINK router via Ethernet cable. Does this mean I don't need to buy a new network adapter for this build? i.e I can just connect the new build to the DLINK router with my old Ethernet cable.

As I said before, I'm new to this, so please be nice!

that build looks good but i have a few minor suggestions. Get rid of that PSU and get a decent 500-600 watt 80+ rated unit. It sounds like you intend to have this computer for a while so dont try and save money on a budget psu. It will pay for it self over the next 5 years in power savings alone.
You do not need a network adapter, your mobo will have ethernet built in. Other than that looks good!

on second thought, go to the microcenter website and see if there is a store within driving distance. they sell the new 3570k for 189.99 and you can get up to $50 off a motherboard when you buy them together for a savings of up to about $110 or $115

1. Yes you will be able to play Battlefield 3 on high easily, and even ultra up to around 40fps with just the GPU in mind. That's not an absolute figure though, it depends on the other components too but they look good.

2. The motherboard has a NIC (network interface card) built in so you will not need to buy a new network adapter.

I agree with ewood, the PSU they suggested is great.
