Is This a Defect?

Model: MSI G72mVR 7RG Apache Pro

The case bottom seems to be cut incorrectly. The fan vents seem to only be half cut through, there is no hole for the CPU fans and the CPU runs around 60-70 C idle. If this is a defect, where can I get the bottom case replaced?

That's probably just how it's designed. They likely only added the ridges to keep everything looking symmetrical, or perhaps they design different vent layouts to go with different internals. Those dual blower fans appear to exhaust out the back, and should draw in air through the existing vents, which will pass over other components in the process. Adding additional vents could potentially even mess with the designed airflow, causing other parts of the system to overheat. As long as the vents aren't blocked, it should likely cool the system as designed.

Idle temps don't mean much, since it's a laptop, and they might shut off the fans, or turn them way down low when the system isn't under load. Load temperatures might be more...
