Is this a good build?

Solution
Not a fan of the power supply, plus it's way overpowered. You only need 500w for that system. The GTX 660 only uses 1 PCIe x6 connector so even if you plan to SLI down the road a quality 650w would be more than enough. Thermaltake doesn't make very good PSU's. Their Tough Powers are okay but for that $80 you could get a more reliable unit.

Also it would be a better idea to get 2x4GB of RAM instead of just 1x8GB of RAM. Reason being you can run dual channel mode.

XFX Core...
I'm not a big TT fan but that particular model is made by Channel Well which is a decent supplier.

I wonder if you wouldn't want another hard drive (mechanical) for long term storage. (may have it already)

I wonder if dual channel memory (2x4) wouldn't work better than a single stick.

It's pretty good but I made couple of changes and yes you need optical drive also you don't need a 750w psu. If you can stretch your budget just a bit get a gtx 760 instead anyways here is the parts I picked

Most of these are at least semi-modular too. So you can leave out unused cables instead of having to bundle them and hide them somewhere in the case. This is a luxury the Tough Power is also lacking in. Aside from below average build quality and abysmal aesthetics.

If you plan to SLI:

Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-650 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182132
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438007

SeaSonic SSR-650RM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151118

Better suited RAM:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1866 CL8 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231538
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1866 CL9 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460

You will need an optical drive to install that Windows DVD you included in your build. Unless you can get a digital copy and put it on a thumb drive. Which you would have to use another computer to do, because there will be no operating system on this one until you are able to install it.

EDIt: Just noticed there is no mechanical HDD. That 250GB SSD will fill up fast unless you plan to only have a handful of games installed at a time and no intentions of storing video, music, or pictures. I recommend getting at least a 1TB 7200RPM HDD for games and storage. But 2TB drives are only $10 to $20 more than their 1TB counterparts these days. You could easily pick up a 2TB Seagate Barracuda for $80-$90 and be set.
