Looking to upgrade my CPU and motherboard.

My current setup is:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz
MSI Z170a Sli plus
Geforce RTX 2060
2x8 gb Corsair DDR4 PC2666 CL16 Vengeance LPX
600 Watt Corsair Builder Series CX60
500 gb SSD

I would like to upgrade to
Intel CPU Core I5-12400 2.5GHz
ASRock B660M-HDV Micro-ATX LGA1700 Intel B66

Would that make sense? Do you see any bottlenecking or other issues?

I primarily use the system for gaming, hence the idea to change the cpu, since its starting to fall short..

I have no plans on overclocking and the form factor of the new motherboard isnt an issue for me.

Thanks guys,

It works but maybe look for a board with better VRM's such as these for example...

Solution
2666mhz ram will reduce the performance slightly, but I would argue it is not significant enough to merit spending $60-80 for a new kit for the small performance benefit it would provide.

I would suggest replacing the CX600 as well. They are old units that are cheaply made. They do not perform well and failures are fairly common.
