Oh yeah I know, I need a motherboard with an am4 socket, I already got 16 GB of Ram. Any recommendations for a motherboard within the 100-150$ price range? CAD

You already have 16GB of DDR4 RAM?

If you're going with the Ryzen 7 2700X, then I'd probably recommend:

If most of what you do is gaming a 3rd generation ryzen (or waiting for 5th gen) will be better for you.

Even a lower end ryzen 5 like the 3600 will do better than that, since while the 2700X has 8 cores instead of 6, there are slower cores.

Also also, when ryzen 5000 launches, you will have the choice of the better ryzen 5000 or get a 3000 chip, which will by then be cheaper.

I wouldn't bet on the 3600 getting cheaper: it hit its lowest at ~$160 back in August and bounced back to $210-230 in most places despite Zen 3's imminent launch likely because AMD has already shifted a good chunk of Zen 2's 7nm wafers to Zen 3. I'm expecting most Zen 2 products to vanish from store shelves in record time.

It is all a waiting game. Life is a waiting game guys. Technology is always advancing. Wait for the 5000 series then the 6000 series is around the corner. Get the 5000 series and 6000 series comes out and you feel like crap. Then you say ok Im gonna wait and get the 7000 series AMD then their talking about the new 8000 series which will be built on 1nm die. Then you wait for that then 0.5nm die. You never win in technology waiting game you must make the decision at the point you feel your not getting the most out of your games like CP77. At some point you must be content. The 2700x is a terrefic processor you can buy for like 130 dollars or so. It came out about the same time as the 9900k and was the direct competition to it. The 9900k 9700k and 10700k all perform the same pretty much in games. The 2700x although not as fast as the 9900k performs in the same ball park. For 130 dollars and 100 dollars for a motherboard and 32GB of RAM and a SSD with a 1080p video card like the 2060 you will get your 60fps my friend. Do it and do it now instead of suffering as no body knows the future you can get a brain anurism and die tomorrow so enjoy today my friend. I bought my cousin a 2700x system from a Core 2 Quad he had and he says it flys. My fathers rig is a 9900k and honestly you will not tell a difference between the two doing normal stuff on the desktop. As for gaming although 1080p falls on the shoulders of the CPU power still the GPU matters. So coupled with a 2060 that is a great CPU the mobo will be cheap B450 I suggest and 32GB of RAM is not expensive at all. Also a SSD is 60 dollars for 500GB. So do it man and if you need any help let me know.✝🎗👶

More than enough for VR. Just a quick clarification. You do know you will need a new motherboard and RAM for your new CPU, correct?
