I am building a new gaming pc and this is what I picked together. Is it a good build for gaming at 1080p for a while? I'm talking like 2-3 years. What should I change? I don't want to go above 900$. thanks.

Solution
In this range Ryzen is a better choice than the i5 ( and more future-proof)

* Also you picked a Z270 motherboard while your cpu is locked ( cant be overclocked) ,

Solution
Depends on the games you are playing really. As for future proof, that setup has roughly the same performance as what a 3-4 year old top of the line system would have. So it would still have life to it but not a terribly high amount. If staying at 1080p, i think youd get a few years out of it. But if id have to suggest one major change, is to get an SSD as OS drive with your games on it and just use the disk hard drive as storage.

An ssd doesnt change gaming performance but load times are chopped way down. With my samsung 840 pro 250g SSD, from hitting the power button on my tower to being in battlefield 1 and ready to join a game is about 20 seconds lol. With a disk hard drive you are talking much much much more time, probably triple or quadruple the time, if not more.

At that price point you should really be including a 250 GB SSD.

Yes! If you OC ryzen it will completely crush the locked i5s in literally every benchmark.
