It's not overkill btw. You will find a better gpu is always useful for monitors 144hz +. Everyone thinks that once you hit 60 fps that instantly anything more is OVERKILL. If you watch any benchmark on youtube you can see games that get 200 fps and then dip down to 130 and even lower at times. So yes you may be hitting insane fps looking in a certain direction, or being in a certain area of a game, but having the extra head room is always going to raise your MIN fps in any situation.

Because why wouldn't he? I mean you act like buying a GPU is just for the exact minimum. Getting a 1070 gives him more room for gaming above 60 fps. I've played competitive shooters for almost 19 years now. You obviously play at 120+ if you can afford it. Getting a 1070 will not only allow him more future proofing, but give him a better edge in games that will allow him a greater fps boost. I think it's better to tell someone the truth rather than, "Oh this ENOUGH for you, you don't need any better." And then they become disappointed down the road when they realize their limitations. Pretty sure anyone can agree with that!

Ive changed the card to a Gigabyte Radeon RX 480 G1 Gaming 8GB, and please stop arguing

So get the 1060 instead of the one I swapped it for

OC capabilities are most definetly worth it. Even if someone doesn't OC now, like myself because tehre is not much need to, in about 1 and a half or 2 years, I can just OC the crap out of my system. Already tested it and ran very comfy and super stable at around 4.7GHz on my i5 6600k. Reverted it to stock, cause like I said, not much need for it now.

Furtehr down the line why even bother with upgrades when you can just OC ? Save the money and save the time and any possible headaches resulting from upgrading. Its worth a lot more then just additional $120.

I'm just gonna get it anyway, just to keep it cooler, but thanks for the input
