I would like to know if these specs can be good for a gaming pc. I am really new at this and i want to build a good gaming pc that is preferably better than the ps4 specs and will last me a few years without upgrading anything. Also, the link is here:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7782889&sku=B69-1560

I am grateful for any additional info you guys could provide, for ex, how much will a pc cost minimally that will beat the ps4 or xbox720 specs and last about 1-3 years more with any new games on at least medium-high settings.

Solution
Hey, you could always start. 2 months ago, I didn't know a thing about computers. Now I'm a forum regular here. Buying my own build in 3 weeks, so I had to tweak to perfectness. Anyway, here's the final build, nothing changed.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($134.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($47.98 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung...
Well, its a very unlikely solution. I do not think that it will come to that. I will keep your suggestion in mind. I do hope to avoid it but if worst comes to worst... You never know. Thanks for the suggestion, any other ideas anyone?

I wouldn't pirate windows, I would just go with Linux or buy a cheap copy from eBay, I got a legitimate copy Windows 7 Ultimate for £50. You could drop the mechanical keyboard, they're good and everything but in my opinion they're not worth the money since you can go to Walmart and get a keyboard for $7 that will be about 1/4 as good as a mech'.

I've been watching some videos and reading some reviews, the 4670k is only a tiny bit faster than the 3570k in gaming, if you can get them for the same price go for it, get which ever one is cheaper.

I am going to keep a lookout for a cheap copyof windown then. I really do not want to budge on the mech. Keyboard, card, case ans haswell. I really want to use them. I suppose i will have to wait for the price to drop.

As I said, Haswell isn't any better at gaming really, the 2600k about 5 FPS below the 4670k, if you're doing video editing or heavy photoshoping then Haswell is the way to go, if you're only gaming the CPU doesn't matter that much.

Exactly, CPUs aren't really going to affect your gaming performance, probably 5 fps like Sam said. And if worse comes to worst, than you can OC it.

They all work the same. Get a good activator, and you essentially have a genuine copy.

I dont want to budge on haswell because of small reasons.
While gaming is the prominent thing i will do, there are school intensive apps, multitasking, minecraft, and other things i need a good cpu for. I want the haswell so i will be able to upgrade easily in the future. I want the haswell, as it even offers better OC room than ivy. The mechanical keyboard, as my first build, is one of the most prominent things i want. I am hesistant getting the *ehem ehem* pirated *ehem ehem* copy of windows because of all the hassle i will have to go with installing it, updating it, and the other things, and the moral and ethical issues, and the legal ramifications. Well, i even want an ssd but i know that is more than impossible to fit with the 780 rig.

I have an old PC that I got off eBay for £180 with 2x 5130 2.0GHz dual core processors and a HD 5450 that gets 100fps in minecraft, if you really want massive OC potential and great multi-tasking get a FX 8350.

Is the fx8350 better than the i5 4670k overall? I mean performace, speed, cache, cores, lifetime, multitasking, overclock potential, durability, upgrading, developer focus etc? Overall, which one BETTER? I will get that one before my mind is fully biased over intel.

Overclocking won't really affect your performance, it's more of a hobby task. Like Sam said, if you want multi-tasking and OC'ing, then get the FX8350. 8 cores = more multi-tasking. The i5 however, has better single-threaded performance, so it's better at gaming.

Get the 770, it's not that far behind the 780. As GPU's become more expensive, their price/performance decreases. So you won't lose a lot of performance. As for Windows, only problem is your ethical standards. I personally won't pay for virtual things. Other than that, it's as easy as installing a legit version, except you gotta run the activator which is only 3 seconds to connect to their servers. With all those in mind, you have enough for a good 256GB SSD.

I have been diagnosed clinically insane about new computers, so ethical standards are not much of a problem for me, but they still are one. Eh, i am still hesistant to try it. If it comes down to it, maybe, and that's probably how it is going to remain. Still, about the 780, i really really want it. It's closeness to the titan and this: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-780-vs-GeForce-GTX-770 is not changing my mind much. I'm sorry if it seems like i am ignoring or rebuking your advice but i really do want the 780. Could you or sam (I think sam is more likely) make me an amd build with the 780? The advice is helpful but i think maybe its the marketing hype or the advertised specs, but the 780 just really appeals to me. Thanks guys.

Add what ever peripherals you want, but as ballerslife the i5 has better single core performance than the 8350, which makes it better for pre 2013 games, recreantly most new games have stared using more cores and in the future maybe 2 years most games will be using 6-8 cores.

But to be totally honest it doesn't really matter, gaming is 90% GPU and neither the 8350 or the 3570k will bottleneck any GPU that's out right now.

Wow, amazing. Thanks Sam! That really helps. I even have room for a lot of stuff now. You surpassed yourself there, thanks so much. I'll raise any concerns if it comes to it, but for now, that system seems really good.

the fact is it has proven over and over that a intel processor with cheaper graphics will beat a amd and higher graphics but it dependent on how much difference in graphics card and resolution your playing. personally i am intel fanboy. amd has lead me to lost of money by not meeting my standards. it like this you spending $650 on graphics. i would not cheap out on the CPU. i would buy ivy bridge before i bought a AMD CPU. i have a gtx 770 it runs crysis 3 almost max out at 60 fps no problem. it dependents how u set the game, i let geforce experience set the details. buying for the future is crazy.

The thing is, i also favour intel a bit, i have been swayed to the dark side through the efforts of Sam. This is what i see with me getting the cards:

7970: ~ 15 more game generations
770: ~ 18 mpre game generations
780 ~ 23 more game generations
Titan: ~ 25 more game generations

By game generations i mean hordes of aaa game releases like we are having in a few months. I dont know if that is true and i can only wonder. Tell me if that is, or what the truth is. Can you give me a 770 build? I am warming up to the idea. I can understand what you mean by saying to not cheap out on the cpu as i am trying to make the rest of my system all around good too.

Well you better go with Intel :)

I say that titan/780 will keep up to 8 years if you low down settings. I give 770 7/6 years.Of course you wont be able to play dx12 games but there usually is an option to get it lower (in this case to dx11). Thats what I think but I might be totaly wrong...

Everything can stay the same but CPU (3570/4670), mobo (some asus/asrock z77/z87) and change 780 to 770 if you really want (still EVGA or Asus).

Yeah brpeden82 you're totally right, a i7 3960x and a HD 6450 gets a lot higher FPS than a FX 6350 and a GTX Titan, that was sarcasm if you haven't realised.

If you're talking about future proofing a build, with the FX-8350 it have 8 cores so when all the new games get optimised for the PS4/xBox One any 8 core CPU will be very useful.

But really any CPU or GPU you get will be out of date with in a month, and with both AMD and Intel you don't know if you're going to have to upgrade your Motherboard to upgrade your CPU. However I would bet money on the next AMD CPUs being AM3+ or AM4 and AM4 should be compatible with AM3+ motherboards.

no (t in all games)

no (you really want this again)

no (yes if you call couple years a month)

I hate it when people are trying to have a mature discussion and someone comes in just saying "no" not giving any reasons or evidence, just "NO NO NO" "I'm right and you're wrong because I say so".

Ok sorry, is this better?

Not in all cases beacuse some games dont need much GPU power but a lot of CPU (and a lot programms too)

Beacuse all the work on weaker 8350s cores goes on the stronger i5 cores (same thing that uses 2 amd cores uses about 1 i5).

Intel sandys bridges arent outdated even now and can easly compare with your 8350.
