Is this a good monitor for gaming?

Hey do you think this monitor would do good with the GTX 980 or GTX 970?

If i was to get a 4k monitor, what can i do with this old monitor?

Id use the old screen as a performance monitor, which has GPU/CPU usage, OC software open and game stats.

That monitor is just fine for gaming, though a 144hz monitor by Benq/Asus would be far better (more expensive also)

Thank you, Do you think getting a 4k monitor now would be worth the money. And if i have 2 monitors is it possible to have 1 monitor on full screen gaming and the 2nd on desktop watching a movie or doing something else?

Wow thats good then, it would not be a waste of money to buy a new monitor. Also i am in need of a new graphic card, do you think SLI GTX 970 or 1 GTX 980 would be good for 2 monitors and for the money?

GTX 970 SLI is far better, it'll blow the GTX 980 out of the water. The GTX 970 is only 10% slower then the GTX 980, but is almost half the price! Go GTX 970 SLI, a far better option, and worth paying that extra.

Gigabyte G1 Gaming/MSI Gaming (Twin Frozr) Both great suppliers of the GTX 970 series cards. I prefer the Gigabyte, but take into account the preferred colour scheme.

Granted that single GTX 980 will beat a single GTX 970, but putting two GTX 970 will beat the single GTX 980 no matter what.

I had this discussion in other threads with Peter before, don't bother. If he does do it again action will be taken prior to over-repeated facts. This fascination with the one GTX 980 has got to stop, especially with the 4k consideration and limited budget.

GTX 970 SLI sounds very good for its price and performance, i think I'll go with gigabyte then, but would it be noisy though? Since Gigabyte has 3 fans adding up to a total of 6 fans.

The scaling is not worth it for three way SLI, and in cases it does decrease performance.

The Gigabyte is not too bad on noise, that said all graphics card fans @ 100% will be somewhat noisy. They are small, and spin at very high RPM.

Hey unknown, i was planning on getting the Samsung Samsung D590 28 UHD LED 4K monitor, but i had seen some comments that it is bad for gaming and will give you really bad FPS for gaming. is it true?

FPS is determined by the hardware. People shouldn't be blaming nothing on the monitor if they didn't think about what would be required to run it.

It is not true to be blaming the monitor, it is true you need good hardware to get good FPS on 4k.

Are there settings on games where i can play it on a 4k monitor at 1080P max settings so i won't lag? I heard even with the GTX 980s or GTX TITAN it still struggles to reach a decent 60 FPS. And it mostly needs like 3 way SLI.

just scale the resolution to 1080p if you need to. You can play 4k pretty well with GTX 970 SLI for sure. I have one R9 290X and play ultra with no AA, and it does pretty well.

Maybe the R9 295x2.
I've seen some benchmarks where it's really high up there. But the GTX 970s and the GTX 980s should be good enough, no?
