Does it matter that it doesnt allow SLI and will any cpu cooler be able to fit in the space?

SLI only matters if you plan to use SLI at some point. Personally, you are better off with a single (stronger) GPU configuration than any SLI/CF config from a heat/power/space/compatibility standpoint.

Yes, you should be able to use nearly any heatsink (CPU cooler).
