Your build performs very good. Remember to buy a good CPU cooler.

I would always reccomend going for Intel CPUs as they run better (lower wattage, temps etc)
A good equalent will be a i5 4670k or 4690k.
I would drop the full tower and go for a good mid tower.
The extra money throw for a better PSU/upgrade go GTX 970.

Intel core i5 4670k
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 LGA1150
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA/Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB
Corsair Graphite 230T/Carbide 400R
Corsair 600W 80+ CMPSU-600CXV2 / Or any other good equalent.

Your build is decent indeed, and there is no need to go for Intel although everyone says so.
The only cpu i can come up with from amd that is a power monster and has alot of heat is the fx-9590.
I have the fx-8370 and its pretty good, does the trick, now that win10 is out and dirx12 your chosen cpu will get even better
being able to use all the cores, and some cores getting stronger. The temps are fine on those, i overclock my amd cpu with the stock cooler
and it dosent go over 62c.
