Ok atm these are my pc specs
Processor: AMD Sempron 140 2.7 GHZ
Motherboard: Nvidia GeForce 7025
Memory: 4GB DDR2
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series 2.4 gb Memory

I was wondering if an upgrade to AMD A10-5800K Trinity 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7660D FOR $109, would it increase my fps?

oh and if I get this upgrade can I play older games like Cod MW2 and World at war?
Thank you in advance

you can save up a bit i guess if you went with a 2x2GB DDR3-1333/1600, if you want to. if your PC is really old, and i imagine it is, you may be looking at replacing the power supply unit as well (~$40-45). it'd be...
The APU is a good deal faster than your Sempron, and would run CoD games okay with its integrated graphics core. However, you also need to get a new motherboard and new RAM if you want to use it. Your current motherboard uses a completely different CPU socket than the APUs.

just so we're clear, you'll need a new FM2 motherboard alongside that CPU & compatible DDR3 ram. you're not going to fit or run that CPU with your current motherboard and run that motherboard with your current RAM. you MAY be looking at a major overhaul depending on your current motherboard.

if you're aware of that, performance-wise, yes, it'd be an improvement.

Ram is vital to good performance on these apus, I would say get 2x4gb at 1866mhz at least, you'll be dedicating a gb to the igp. Also, I would recommend you get an fm2+ board not fm2, roughly the same price newer, chipset with upgrade path beyond 2014 and theres some nice mid range fm2+ full atx boards as well. Even if it means dropping to a8 5600k and bumping up clocks a little (you'll lose a little gpu grunt though) to afford these parts it will be a better pc imo. I game just fine on low resolutions on this setup.

no. the socket alone is not the best way to determine whether it will work or not, not with AMD. you're going to have to give us the chipset no., via a program called speccy if you don't know how to. again, chances are, you won't be able to upgrade it, not unless you can confirm it's a hybrid AM2/AM3/AM3+ motherboard with DDR2/DDR3 support and a BIOS update to ensure compatibility with AMD's FX CPU. otherwise, you'd be buying a CPU you have no use for.

if it's simply an AM2/AM3 board with only DDR2 support, then there's really no easy solution to an upgrade here.

EDIT:
for example: http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68C-S%20UCC/?cat=CPU

this is a socket AM2/AM2+/AM3 motherboard with a 680 chipset, with support for either DDR2 or DDR3 ram. HOWEVER, it does not support AMD FX CPUs or any AM3+ CPUs.

also, if you do get lucky and have at least a 700 chipset with support for the FX series, you're still going to need to look for a graphics card to see major improvements. the APU you linked much earlier would've given you a nice compromise if you couldn't spend on one.

DDR2 1066/800/667 (DDR2 1066 is supported with combination of AM3/ AM2+ processors

So since my motherboard only supports DDR2 than if I upgraded to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YORK/ref=gno_cart_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER my pc wouldn't speed up and run games better?

if you missed the edit; no. in fact, it won't even boot up. you may even damage the CPU if you force it on the socket, so you can't use it, or return it for a refund. you'd need a new motherboard, RAM, graphics card, & power supply along with that FX-6300 to see an improvement.

the next cost effective upgrade is the A10 APU we discussed earlier. or you could get a Phenom II X4/X6 if you can find one, or even an AM3 Athlon II X2/X4, though that likely requires a BIOS update, along with a decent and cheap graphics card like the Radeon HD6670.

in summary; you're not going to find a worthwhile upgrade here, not for a $100-120 & not without complications.
