Is this build compatible?

Looks good and it should run any game out now on high to ultra settings with the GTX 970 with decent FPS. You should look at getting an SSD for a boot drive though. It will definitely be worth it. The samsung EVO 250 gb is one of the best and it runs about $85. You can get cheaper though if you need to.

If you're assuming that Intel is more expensive than AMD than you'd be wrong. The i5 4590 would outperform the FX8350 in every game for no more money. I actually made your build a good bit cheaper while making it more reliable at the same time.
