Hi,
I'm new to building and I have concerns weather this will be compatible, or not. Thanks!

CPU - Ryzen 3 1200
GPU - GTX 970
RAM - 8 GB DDR4
PSU - 550W
Motherboard - MSI Gaming AMD Ryzen B350 DDR4
HDD - 1TB
SSD - 120gb

Agree, the parts are compatible, but check the PSU, they vary enormously in quality, and while your planned build won't need a power station to run a poor quality PSU may not be up to the job.

I'm confused, do I need to add more watts, or a different model of PSU?

Can you look at the unit and give us the maker and model number?
Like I said, they vary in quality, a good 550Watt unit will run your planned system easily, a cheap and nasty one may not.

It'll work, but I'll suggest you change it as soon as funds permit for something from Tier three or above.
