hi all, So I bought a sapphire hd 5770 for just under £25 second hand, when the card arrived I installed it carefully into my system and i got 6 beeps when i powered up (hp mobo) for a failed/faulty vga (the fan still spins)
i put the old card in and it boots up fine so i retried the 5770 and same again, 6 beeps
im 99% sure its a dead card as iv triple checked everything, compatibility, enough juice from the psu, the pcie power cable plugged in etc.
i read in a thread that touching the bus interface can effect the motherboard being able to read the card causing it to beep asif it is faulty so as a long shot i decided to check for any dirt/foreign objects and found this

im wondering if its something of nothing or if its causing the card be 'dead'? if it is the cause can it be fixed even if temporarily for a couple of months?
thanks in advance

it came bubble wrapped lol it was an ebay seller, the listed it as 'spares or repairs' because it wasnt 'compatible' with his computer, i knew what i was buying into and prepaired my self for it to be DOA, iv looked at another photo of a hd 5770 and that single connector pin should be like that
thanks for the help though, i guess iv got a new paper weight 😀

Yeah you may have got dicked by that seller on accident, he/she didnt understand what broke means. I remember my first HDD, instantly broke it by opening on carpet and setting on carpet! lol,newb@ the time. Graphics cards have to have an anti-static enclosure to ensure the card doesnt get damaged for some stupid reason lol. Lets just hope my 7970 DC2 for $250USD comes with an antistatic bag.

You to man, thanks!
