hey guys im wondering if this cpu is a good choice? fx 9590. i know the i7 is alot better but i dont have a choice to get the i7 4770k. is the fx 9590 ok to play some of the next gen games?

the FX 9000 series has a MASSIVE power draw at 220W TDP. It NEEDS liquid cooling to even run. It is nothing more than a super clocked 8350 with better binned silicon. It would take a VERY high end motherboard to facilitate that CPU effectively.

Just stick with the FX 8350 and get yourself a good cooler, as the stock all sound like lawn mowers and cant cool for sh*t

maybe in some games yeah, but the FX 9000 series has heaps more RAW power than any i5 on the market. seems like next gen games are moving to cores anyways.

It is indeed a good CPU but if you dont need HT you wont see much gain over the i5 4690k. But even if you stick with the i7 4790k you will have to spend less money on it than on the fx9590.

-You wont need heavy cooling
-You wont need to spend that much on MoBo
-You wont need 1kW PSU, CPU power consumption will be around 1/3 compared to FX9590

Even though the i7 4790k CPU itself is a bit more expensive, you will actually have to spend less money if you stick with it.

you can order custom PCs nowadays. They build it with your whishes. preconfigured pcs can never fit you 100%
if you choose the "build it for me" option on that company will even give you full warranty.
look for a shop giving you preconfigured pcs with the option to "upgrade" compontents. you will get a significant better result

Praise the lord and its miracles! The truth will win! I'm sure about that!

So, the question, dear "ZeroRequiem", is not the decision to buy an intel, it's the value of an specific AMD. Your step come after, if the opner will decide against buying his prefered build. If not, well, anything is good anyway.

Problem is mate, if you read the whole thread carefully you would know I gave OP a cheaper yet more capable alternative overall. And about the value of A* (corrected it for you) specific AMD, I've never ever heard about anyone recommending the FX9xxx CPUs, I wonder why... The FX8320 is a better buy, way better. Maybe it's marginally slower but no question, it's the better value CPU. Put your fanboyism aside.
