Hello. :)

I was thinking of buying the ASUS m5a78l-m/USB3 (http://www.amazon.com/Asus-M5A78L-M-Usb3-Motherboard-Socket/dp/B0054U7HIO) and the AMD FX 6300.
So I was thinking of buying a CPU cooler as well, so I could overclock it to about 4 Ghz.
Will a Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B be able to cope up with the overclock? Because I have seen people overclock with their stock coolers too :D .. so I think it wouldn't be a problem right?
If it will then please recommend me a really good low-profile CPU cooler worth for the price. :)

Update:
I have a mATX Case :)

i7Baby,
I bought this PC about 4 years back.. It's quite old now. The specs in the link below are different but the case is the same. :)

Hope it helps.

I cannot say since I don't have experience with Scythe's.

I could try in some UAE computer markets.. To get the Noctua L12 but it looks quite expensive as I'm kind of on a budget upgrade unless I could try and bargain the price :p
So you're like it's much better to get a Noctua cooler right?

I'll check for that cooler.
The GIGABYTE mobo doesn't support 1866MHz or either 1600MHz.. which is quite odd isn't it? :s

It's not really for overclocking since it doesn't have cooling on the vrm's,but you could try.I would get a cooler like the scythe i linked,it blows air down over the ram and vrm's.
VRM'S Not the chokes need to be cooled, but the little black units next to those, the chokes are part of it all.Like this,

A link to which motherboards support overclocking in regard to the vrm's,
http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database
change it to asus and you'll see,

M5A78L/USB3 4+1 No 140W OC with cooling

Maybe that 4ghz will be possible without cooling, but that's for you to try out.

I had a phenom x2 550 at a simple asrock motherboard at 4.2ghz (i think,could be 4.0) and stable,but i wrecked one of the memory channels too.:D

Great I'll go for the gigabyte board :D Thanks for that amazing link ..got some great info there :)

So about the cooler, a Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B.. Is good for a 4Ghz clock right?
If yes, what would the temperatures be like... and would the fan be noisy?
Please clarify these questions :)

Thanks Vic 40.. for some great links and info.. sorry but I can't get the Cross 2..
It seems that the Shuriken does well even when OC'ed. So I'll be getting the Shuriken :D
And thanks to everyone else who posted in this thread.. It helped me alot. :D
