Is this high memory usage?

Recently it feels like my computer's been using a lot more memory than before, not entirely sure what happened if it was a windows update or if this is normal and I've just not noticed it before. Just today I left it alone with only my usual programs of steam, discord, and malwarebytes running and when I got back after an hour it had ballooned to to using about 5 GB of RAM after I booted it.(where it was only using 3)

Here's the views from the task manager:

My computer details:
i7 4790k @ 4.00 ghz
16 GB DDR3 @1600
Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3 (before anyone suggests it, I have updated the Killer Network driver so I don't think this is a memory leak from that)

you have a tab name malwarebytes and lower anti malwares those are related or not then you have google drive discord and steam and skype in same time also you have a lot of 2 tab that one been start by system and the others is you the other thing do you use the printer all the time you could stop spoiler and restart when you need .

Depending on the anti-virus you use I would disable all background Malwarebytes features (Bitdefender is the only AV I trust to work on its own). Can you post another picture of the task manager however this time can you sort the RAM Usage tab by high to low? Just click on the RAM tab and it will sort.

Edit: Windows (plus a few basic common programs) use around 3-4 gb of memory on Windows 10 so its high usage if you have not got a lot running.

I mean I have 16 GB of RAM so 3-4 GB isn't a problem. Just wondering if building up to 5GB after only an hour and a half of usage is normal. I'll link an updated task manager pic when I get back home. Thanks for the reply!

Well normal can depend on multiple factors. It's normal if there are background apps constantly scanning in the background. If you are not affected by the RAM usage then I would not worry about it at all.

I will wait for the picture of the sorted task manager then I will give you my final opinion :)

PS: If you can take a photo of task manager sorted when it is using the ~5gb of RAM then please do. That will give us a very clear idea of what the heavy hitters are. Keep the computer running normally and if you have any programs that you usually have open at the same time, then open them up aswell. This will allow us to get a real world picture rather than a synthetic and de-constructed idea.

Also you mentioned antivirus stuff, and I use MalwareBytes as my primary, and Windows Defender is pretty much impossible to turn off outside of group policy stuff. For a while I had Defender turned off and exclusively used malwarebytes but then I switched Defender back on and didn't really have any problems until now.

Should I disable some of the background Malwarebytes stuff? I do like having the protections on there just in case. It saved my butt when CCleaner accidentally released an update that had an infected version of it.

If the memory usage is bothering then sure you can disable them. I highly recommend you try Bitdefender. I use that as my primary protection package (I use the basic free version). In the little over a year I've had it, I have not had a single threat on my system. Many have been detected and instantly blocked and I've not had a single issue, although scans are very slow unless you have an SSD. Malwarebytes seems to be incompatible with the latest versions of Bitdefender however I have not seen this as an issue as I have not needed it.

Here's some stuff now that I'm home. Had to go to work.
This is right after booting with startup programs running

This is after about an hour. Did some work on Chrome, played a little warframe, kept pretty much everything running. Also I disabled all the stuff that Windows Defender does since it's not really necessary since I have Malwarebytes doing the same thing:

I'm not entirely sure what happened in the morning vs now, since in the morning I barely did anything before I left for my workout for an hour and came back to 5 gigs being used. But now I had been using games, chrome in various forms, Discord, even skype a little. It has stayed stabler since I disabled Defender's various parts, but would that have really caused such a jump in ram?

EDIT: Was doing some artwork tonight and my ram without me noticing jumped up to maximum and my computer froze up. Legit thinking now that this isn't a memory leak issue but a RAM issue. Will update accordingly after some testing.
