Hello, I have an Asus Rog 3070 ti GPU and an Asus Rog Z49-E Gaming motherboard.

I'm trying to install the GPU into the motherboard but I'm having issues.
What I'm doing it is, I pull the lock level all the way back toward the motherboard, I put the GPU in and push until I hear a click sound or until the lever has moved and can't move any more.

My question is, is this how the GPU is supposed to sit in the PCIe socket? There's a visible gap that looks like a U, is that supposed to be visible like that, or does it need to be in the socket?

Another issue I am having is with the mounting screws for the IO. There's not enough room to fit the screws in.

I tried pushing the GPU towards the IO and it exposes most of the mounting socket except a couple of millimeters, but it still won't fit in.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me with these issues. Thanks!

Double check both the motherboard's and the GPU's installation instructions to ensure that you have not committed some error of omission or commission.

Remove GPU.

Inspect GPU and PCIe socket for signs of damage and obstructions.

When you insert the GPU into the slot, gently rock the GPU back and forth until the GPU fully seats itself and clicks into place.

If that does not work (do not force the insertion), take some additional photos to show the problem with more light and clearer detail.

Also, on one card I installed recently, check the io plate on the card. The steel plate that is at the back of the case that goes around the ports on the back of the card.

Every once in a while, on that plate, the feet won’t fit in just right, and the card doesn’t want to sit right. What I’ve had to do is( I prefer to use hand strength vs a tool for obvious reasons here, bend those metal fingers on the plate slightly inward, toward the case if they don’t look straight. I’ve had to do that every once a while, but usually the card should just sit without doing that.

As far as the screws, remove the cover for the io slot below the card, then you should be able to move that part of the card slightly up or down to get the screws into the proper groove. Then you may be able to reinstall the panel you removed. One of my recent cards was that way.

So I took the PC to a shop and explained the issue to the owner. He tried to install it and it worked fine for him. He still had the issue with the screws though, so he used a screw gun. The card works well. It's recognized and performance is great.

Thank you very much for raising this question! I have same issue and tried any single piece of solution I found. But those solutions were a total BS! Hope that these above gonna work out. Thank you very much one more time.
