Hi i'd like to know if ACER AL1731 is hydis panel - the same as Hercules one.

On Hercules the viewing angle is supposed to be 170/150 according to many pages. This acer have 160/130 (some sites say 160/160). So i'm totaly confused. can this still be HyDiS and have different viewing angles ? Other things seem same like 430 contrast,250 brightness,20ms refresh...u know

Thanks if u can help!

Well, I'm no expert, but since the contrast, and brightness seem to be the same, I would chalk up the difference in viewing angles to be manufacturer specific.

Acer may just have done something slightly different with the construction, or change how they measure the viewing angles. To my knowledge, HyDiS is the only one that has a 20ms response time with their panels. All other manufacturers tried going with 16ms. The only other telling feature that would nail it for sure is if you could figure out the color pallete since the HyDiS panels are true 24 bit instead of the dithered 18 bit panels.

Also, a quick browse noted that there are even 20ms panels in the 1 series of monitors in the 17inch size available.
