Is this jump in CPU temperature normal?

Please see attached snapshot, my pc was ideling for about 2 minutes then I noticed the cpu temperature reaching 127C. I think something went wrong with the software reading the temp, but I wanted to get your opinion.

- I7 6700k
-Gigabyte Z170 HD3
-CPU fan: Noctua NH-U12S

That is far from normal. Download another program like Aida64 and see if it can survive a stress test. If my CPU ever went over 90C I'd have a heart attack...much less 127C.

Thank you, I already have CPUID,Intel Extreme tuning Utility, and Gigabyte SIV runing monitoring temp. I think there is a problem with Gigabyte SIV.

Yes, Temperature goes to 60C; however, System temperature reading on GB SIV reached 127C for a Second but not in CPUID or Intel Utility.

Before it was the CPU temp that reached 127C but now its the System temp.

It seems that it is a false reading on GB SIV as I don't see any problem using other monitoring utilities.

sounds like just an issue with the GB SIV. Maybe a bios and software update will fix it.
