Is This Motherboard Good for Gaming?

I know its not a "good" mother board. But Im on a tight budget here. Would this be good for a GTX 970, 16Gb of RAM, and an i7 4790?

im sure it will be fine but its a pretty basic server board you may want to try used hardware you may be able to get a better board for the same price

Provided there's no limitations in it's PCIe slot power, BIOS compatibility etc, then it's "fine".

You can still buy a new, retail MSI H81M-E35 from Amazon for $60 though....

The only thing Im worried about is we tried a microATX board in this system already, and the SATA ports were in the way of the 970, rendering it completely useless.

Yes - it would be extremely rare (and odd!) for a full/mid tower to only support ATX.

Every board layout is a little different.

On the MSI board I linked, the SATA ports are below the x16 slot for the 970.
