Is this PC build any good?

I would like to build a PC that will run things pretty well.

First I'd like to ask if it would be possible to use an old HP Pavillion (a1355 specifically) case from 2006 and install an Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro ATX Motherboard in it. The case has four expansion slots so I figured it was Micro ATX. Also I think that the cable that plugs into the motherboard for the power button, hard drive light and so on is different to the type that modern motherboards use. Would there be an adapter for that?
Here's the case:

Last thing I wanted to ask is if this is a good build:
http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/NMGgK8
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor - $129.00 @ CPL Online
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard - $79 @ CPL Online
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory - $103 @ IJK
Seagate Momentus Thin 500GB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive - $59 @ IJK (already own this)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card - $259.00 @ PLE Computers
Silverstone PS08B (Black) MicroATX Mid Tower Case - $42.00 @ CPL Online
Silverstone Strider Essential 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply - $55 @ IJK

I already have a copy of Windows 7 Professional, I already own the hard drive and I put the case in the build just in case (excuse the pun) I need it.
I do understand I will need to purchase a 3.5 to 2.5mm hard drive adapter.

I don't need an SSD, an Optical Drive or a Wireless Adapter since I used Wired Internet.
If I need to buy this case I know that the onboard motherboard front panel connectors are USB 2.0 but the case has 3.0 ports so would something like this work?

Thanks, sorry about all of the questions.

I'm not spending anymore money on this as it's already over my budget.

The 760 is on the Kepler architecture which isn't being manufactured at TSMC in Taiwan anymore. Maxwell (i.e GTX 960 GTX 970 GTX 980 GTX 990) runs cooler than previous models.

I just deleted my history so I can't get the link. It was on some forum website though, not Tom's.

Found one that hit 80-90c while heavy gaming and it was a single fan msi. other 280s averaging 70c some 75c others down at 60c. They are like an unlocked cpu no 2 are exactly the same, some overclock beter than others thats just the silicon lottery for you.

Well, Happy New Years have a nice day.
