Hello all and Merry Christmas,

I am in the market for a GTX1060; based on reviews and knowledge gained here I am leaning towards the 6GB version. My gaming needs are not massive; I tend to play 2-3 year old games I buy used (in fact I still play Call of Duty4, the first modern warfare). I have a 27" 1080p/60Hz Dell monitor. I do NOT plan to overclock my GPU. I am mainly looking for a quality built GPU that will hopefully last the next 4-5 years.

Newegg sent me a promo for this card:

I can buy it for $280. Is it too much/overkill for me? Is it a good value?

Thanks,
Pete

Solution
No, it's not overkill, it's a mid range card so you will be fine.

Make sure your PSU has the correct power connections before you buy.

That card takes an 8 pin (6+2) PCIe power connection.

Thanks for the reply.

I picked up an EVGA Supernova 550 G3 for the PSU; that should do the job.

At $280 is this card a good value? I can get a 6GB card about $30 cheaper, but I don't mind paying the extra $30 for this if it's worth it.

The truth is they all will perform pretty much the same, a GTX 1060 6GB is a GTX 1060 6GB....
