The model number is lpk12-35 it says 550w on it but when I plug my graphics card into it my computer wont turn on. This is a fresh build and my first build. The card is evga gtx760. Mobo is msi gaming 5. Cpu is i3-4360. I bought the psu off eBay and it is a knockoff brand. It also is lacking the 8 pin pcie so I got an adapter for it. Also I must note that I powered the computer on and used the card for about 5 minutes while I was trying to download drivers and the video froze and my computer would no longer boot with the graphics card in... please help

Hlsgsz's recommendation is excellent. The Antec HCG, like the Seasonic M12II tends to be found less expensively than many new PSUs today (they're mostly the same PSU) because of the older group regulation that has fallen out of fashion, but they're extremely well-designed PSUs for a budget.

Your PSU is enough wattage, and while I highly believe that your PSU will fail at some point for being a knockoff, I don't think the PSU is the issue. I don't know what is, all I can say that it isn't the psu. (yet)

I occasionally encounter those Linkworld PSUs - most don't even bother with the fake certifications (the one I've seen that did used fake numbers). I remember a 430W and a 500W that both struggled to manage 200W on the +12v rail. This is as bottom-of-the-barrel as you can get, this isn't one of those "Not that good, mediocre capacitors, but probably won't kill your stuff, just be aware of the issues and avoid stressing it" PSUs.

Well... two different answers haha. I'm already in the process of returning the psu. So that solves that atleast.... I'm very concerned I fried the graphics card though somehow... the fact that it booted and ran for about 5 minutes then froze .and wouldn't boot is kind of troubling

Only way to run is to test. If you still have issues when you get a new PSU, your CPU can in fact run on the iGPU instead of the external card for testing.

So idk if this will help anyone. But I got the graphics card to work. All I did was installed a different graphics card to see if the pci slot was working. It was and the backup card worked and the computer worked perfectly. Baffled I decided to try the gtx760 one more time for shits and gigs and like a unicorn came and shit on my computer magic happened and the computer booted perfectly. Don't know what I did. But it works. Thanks for all the help guys.
