Is this psu good quality and able to produce enough power for a gtx 980?

The GTX 980 requires a minimum 500W so that one would fit the bill however it seems to have some mixed reviews and there might be a better choice. Do you have a specific budget?

The psu I have now is areocool intergator 500w 80+ bronze.

But apparently this won’t work with a 980 as it doesn’t actually produce 500w would I need to upgrade?

That's one of the worst PSU's made.

Highly recommended you look at getting something higher quality than that.

NO, it's not.

Like I said the CX550M is the least I can recommend, that is a budget PSU, but good quality.

Look for a be Quiet System Power 9 400w, Pure Power 10 400w, Xilence Performance A+, or Corsair RMx. Should be around 40. All are decent power supplies, much better than the PSUs you have mentioned so far.
