Is this ram and motherboard compatible?

It also depends on the SPD vs Tested speed rating of the memory, as well as your motherboard.

It would be best to get the exact model number of the RAM, and go to G.Skill's website for its specifications. Some that are sold as higher speed RAM are tested successfully at that speed, but need to use an XMP Profile to get it.

If you've got an OEM system such as Dell (probably Lenovo, HP, etc., but my experience is only with Dell), you wouldn't be able to use the higher rating, and would be stuck with only what the base SPD rating is. It can go lower, as well, of course, should the system need to do so.
