I have a Transcend storejet J25H3P 1 tb usb 3.0 hdd
when i first benchmarked right after purchase the speed was around 116 mbps read write speed
but when i stored around 70 gb of data and ran the benchamark tomorrow speed was somewhere around 107.4 to 110 why the reduction ? :/ can anybody explain whats the issue ? temp is ok way beyond 40 degree and running it on my Asus B85m gamer mobo's usb 3.0 port ( used usb 3.0 boost ) but result roughly remains the same
how can i make the transfer rate high again ?

a 5600RPM hard drive probably will never see much better then 100 mbps write speeds. you're probably seeing the variation that comes from filling up part of the drive (they get slower as they get fuller).

I'd say your drive is performing EXACTLY as intended.

1. Transfer speed differs greatly between the outer edge of the platters and the inner portion.
The outside sectors can be as much as 50% faster then the inner.

2. It also depends greatly on what you are copying. A single large file of 2GB will transfer faster than 500 small files totalling 2GB.
