I just bought a Samsung 870 Evo 4tb ssd from an authorized retailer. The concern I have is on the box it says product of China. is it a fake?

Doesn't look like its doing anything abnormal. I'm told that the drives from China perform worse than the ones from Thailand and Korea.

The data of manufacture says its June 2024. I checked from earlier versions of Magician and it shows there as genuine. Doesn't show anything in the latest version which is odd..not sure if its the software or the drive itself.

If Samsung Magician says it's genuine, then it's fine.
870 evo is rather old model.
Newer Magician software may have discontinued compatibility with older SSD models.

Where did you hear that?

I read in Amazon reviewers so I got a bit concerned.

Go to the Samsung site, and verify the warranty status of that drive and its serial number.

I can't register the warranty of the product from the site but it did accept the serial number somehow.

I wonder why Samsung doesn't allow registration on their SSDs within their site. Even newer ones can't be registered...
I just updated to the newest version, 8.1.0xxxx
It sees my even older 860 EVOs just fine.

In my case it shows 870 evo 4tb as N/A but shows fine on the 2TB and the 980 Pro. Only if I go to the older versions does it say that its genuine and in my 2TB one I can do diagnostic scan.
