actualy, that is a reasonable system that serves a great purpose. You know know never to go to that store for service.... see wasnt that informitive?

Actually, I'd be sending a letter to the local newspaper pretty darn quickly...put that shiz outta biz. 😀

I don't believe this story. I would guess that anyone who even knows what THG is AND is registered for the forums would have a very good idea of what a good or bad deal on a computer is. Seems like someone is just fishing for attention, or trolling.

I believe it simply because of the ignorance I hear pouring from some peoples mouths when it comes to anything computer related.

I mean it's to the point where I'm flabbergasted at their complete lack of information.

There are more people in this world than just JackM's friend that would have bought that rig for that price. It saddens me to see something like this happen.

Looks like a system I once had:

Athlon (not duron) 800mhz - now at 978 mhz (stock vcore)

256mb PC133 RAM - now 384mb I think

geforce 2 mx 400 32mb - now geforce 4 ti 4400 128mb (overkill for this system but made a big difference, OCs like a charm to)

soundblaster live! value

ASUS A7V mobo

All worth about $AU100 now with the current setup, not the old stuff.

EDIT: Oh I forgot its got XP too

Yeah,i agree with you. The level of some people´s ignorance is mind shattering.
I had a customer with a hard drive problem. He recently put in a new 40 GB HD,and the pc wouldn´t recognize it.The first thing i noticed was the clanking sound it made when you moved it. it turned out that he pulled off the side, placed the hard drive on the bottom of the case and connected the power.
Looking at this,i can understand why some people won´t believe it,but don´t underestimate the power of stupidity.

You're right. I do have a very good idea. The point was to show my friend that my assessment wasn't being overly exaggerated. It was a scam.

Thanks to those who made good posts and backed up your thoughts with excellent insight. Those who were overly critical of my friend, just remember that no one is an expert at everything. This guy would be the first one to run back to your burning car to pull you out, so please give him a break. He also owns a successful business and has better things to do than learn how to make the ultimate gaming rig.

While many of you could probably frag my butt in Counter Strike, I highly doubt a single one of you would fare very well if we met in the woods, mountains, desert, or swamps with a real rifle and a real death match. If I were critiquing your abilities to conduct real world patrols, I'm sure I'd be tearing your sorry selfs new holes with all the dumb mistakes you'd be making. If you know what an ORP is and what to do with one of them, then this does not apply to you.

I follow this site because even though I may know more than the average person about computers, there is always someone who knows a lot more. I'm not ashamed to admit it and only gain by picking the minds of others. Each of you is free to have whatever opinion you want. Don't forget that others are judging you, too.
