So im planning to get a new rig with a ryzen and a x370 mobo and a 1080. But then my friend says <mod edit language> my ryzen 1600 can not support 1080 or 1080 ti and x370. and my ram.
Can somebody tell me is this build good?
Can it work?
Is what he is saying wrong?

RYZEN 5 1600, MSI X370 KRAIT GAMING, EVGA 1080/1080TI FTW/FtW3 ,TEAM DARK 16GB 3000 MHz, EVGA SUPERNOVA G3 550W, FRACTAL DESIGN DEFINE R5 TITANIUM, WD 1TB

Solution

at stock of 3.2, with a turbo of 3.6 it's not that you will have a bottleneck as such. The 1600 is OC'able to 3.8 or so relatively easily, even with a stock cooler (like the Wraith - which comes with that CPU), but at 3.8 lets say, it will be able to drive the 1080/ti easily.

I went with the 1600x, mainly so I don't have to trick around with anything for 4ghz on the stock turbo...

What about stock 1600?
the mobo support 3200 and 2933(OC) its says to i guess it runs 2933
(Also recommend any x370 im still unsure) :)

Can you reply to the other stuff. also

The 1600 can handle those cards. A bit of an overclock wouldn't hurt though. Also avoid Krait boards. They are not very good. ASRock X370 KILLER SLI/ac would be a better board, with a similar color scheme. I would bump up the wattage just a bit, on that PSU, to allow some overclocking headroom. A G2/G3 650w Evga would be plenty. That build really should have an SSD though. A crucial MX300, 275gb or higher, at the very least.

Your x370 mobo should get you there, just make sure your cooler is good enough for the OC though, because there will be an increase in heat.

as well as that, Ryzen CPU's do like extra speed in the ram. It's to do with the Infinity Inteconnect, which loves high speed ram. So as long as you have a qualified set of dimms, you should be able to boot just fine. YOu then set the XMP profile and your high speed 3000/3200 ram will work like a dream

Alright Thank you. i think of the cyrorig m9a or h7? what do you think? or 212 evo or something

I'd be looking at the Asus Prime x370 Pro. But I have a preference for Asus. All of the mobo's from various manufacturers perform roughly within 5 percent of each other. Personally, I'd go with a good branded (MSI., ASUS etc) and whichever is cheapest, with a decent warranty.

Others will argue that this mobo or that mobo will give 5 extra FPS, or one extra USB port. But really all of the X370 will be fully loaded, and with only minor imperceptible differences,.

hyper 212 is perfect for that CPU, and will keep the CPU cool enough to OC the chip to it's max, which has been established as about 4.1ghz or so, for all Ryzen 7 and 5 cpu's.

I will look :)
