Product Overview
Get More Done with Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Now You Can Power Through Advanced Workloads with Server-Grade Data Protection and Performance

Speed Through Compute-Intensive Work and File Transfers
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations offers persistent memory (NVIDIMM) and Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA), allowing speed through advanced workloads & file transfers with the fastest data storage possible on workstations.*

Work Confidently with Server-Grade Data Protection
With highly resilient storage for large volumes of data, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations mirrors data to multiple drives, monitoring and repairing data if degradation is detected.

Feel The Power of High Performance Workstations
Gain full utilization of machines with high performance configurations, such as server-grade Intel Xeon processors, up to 4 CPUs, and massive memory up to 6TB.
Features
ReFS (Resilient File System)
ReFS provides cloud-grade resiliency for data on fault-tolerant storage spaces and manages very large volumes with ease. ReFS is designed to be resilient to data corruption, optimized for handling large data volumes, auto-correcting and more. It protects your data with integrity streams on your mirrored storage spaces. Using its integrity streams, ReFS detects when data becomes corrupt on one of the mirrored drives and uses a healthy copy of your data on the other drive to correct and protect your precious data.

Persistent Memory
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations provides the most demanding apps and data with the performance they require with non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) hardware. NVDIMM-N enables you to read and write your files with the fastest speed possible, the speed of the computer’s main memory. Because NVDIMM-N is non-volatile memory, your files will still be there, even when you switch your workstation off.*

Faster File Sharing
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations includes a feature called SMB Direct, which supports the use of network adapters that have Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) capability. Network adapters that have RDMA can function at full speed with very low latency, while using very little CPU. For applications that access large datasets on remote SMB file shares, this feature enables*:

• Increased Throughput: Leverages the full throughput of high speed networks where the network adapters coordinate the transfer of large amounts of data at line speed.
• Low Latency: Provides extremely fast responses to network requests, and, as a result, makes remote file storage feel as if it is directly attached storage.
• Low CPU Utilization: Uses fewer CPU cycles when transferring data over the network, which leaves more power available to other applications running on the system.

Expanded Hardware Support
Users will now gain full utilization of workstations by running Windows 10 Pro for Workstations on devices with high performance configurations including server grade Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors, with up to 4 CPUs (previously limited to 2 CPUs) and add massive memory up to 6TB (previously limited to 2TB).

*These features of Windows 10 Pro for Workstations require devices with NVIDIMM-N and RDMA network adapters

From the looks of it, provided with limited information, I think it's a good buy. Mind sharing a link to the build on Scan's site? how much are you willing to pay for a system(meant for workstation duties? IMHO, if you have the time, you could source the parts yourself and build the system yourself. If you don't have the time, the build offered by Scan seems good, for now at least.

https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/configurator/wi6000-viz you can find the windows details here. But Im tryign to get somethgin more custom then their configurator

ie looking possibly at different motherboards, different cases

what Im looking for is

  • Processor :- intel i9-9900x (I was looking at Threadripper 2950x before)
  • CPU Cooler : - Corsair Hydro H100X or a noctura air cooler
  • Motherboard:- most likely Asus x299 Prime A Deluxe II, Gigabyte Designare Ex, or MSI x299 Meg creation
  • Ram Memory :- 64 GB Corsair Vengence LPX 2666 or higher
  • GPU :- Quadro RTX 4000
  • Operating System Drive a Samsung 970 NVO plus or Por 1 TB SSD
  • Storage Drive :- Pair of Seagate Barracuda Pro 4 TB in raid 1 mirror set up
  • Power :- 3XS Only RM850X 850W Gold Modular
  • Case :- Looking at Corsair Graphite Series 780T , Fractal Design Define XL R2 , be quiet! Pure Base 600 BGW20 or be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 rev.2
